Alan’s family have a beef farm in Athelstaneford, and he has been a Director of the East Lothian Agricultural Society since 2003, he initially looked after the rapidly expanding horse section but in 2015 took over the role of Show Chairman. Although Alan comes from a farming family he does not work on the family farm, but manages Fenton Tower at Kingston, North Berwick.Anderson Waddell

Alan has been Secretary for 25 years. He is Partner and Solicitor with East Lothian firm of Garden Stirling Burnet based at their Dunbar Office. Alan lives in Drem near Haddington with his partner Angela and son Peter. Alan also has two daughters, Emma and Eve.Alan lives in Edinburgh and Aberdeen and is interested in all rural matters and is [as a curse of birth], a keen supporter of Alloa Athletic FC.
